Ritual for Mama #1 | A Presentation by SAM Residencies Pilot Programme
Join Salty Xi Jie Ng in her performance, Ritual for Mama #1. The performance will explore ancestor worship as a means of continuing relationships between the living and the dead, third person wish fulfilment for the deceased, and ritual as an everyday act of self-invention. The pre-recorded performance will be followed by a live discussion between Salty Xi Jie Ng and writer/artist/anthropologist Jill J. Tan, who works on death and the funeral profession in Singapore.
This performance is part of a presentation by the residents of the SAM Residencies Pilot Programme, titled Present Realms, which is showing at Tanjong Pagar Distripark from 22 to 30 May 2021.
